I’ve had a fantastic career, with over 30 years experience in the Canadian and European media industries as on-air host, play-by-play announcer, producer and executive producer. I’ve been fortunate enough to have been in the commentator’s chair with TSN (The Sports Network) and Eurosport for some of Canada’s biggest international hockey games, hundreds of NHL games with Hockey Night In Canada and TSN as well as a couple of hundred NBA games with TSN and FAN590 radio. I’ve called play by play at six Olympic Games (basketball, hockey, triathlon) and worked dozens of major events as a reporter (Football World Cup, Stanley Cup Final, World Series, Asian Games). Behind the microphone, I also played a major role in developing the world’s oldest invitational club team hockey tournament, The Spengler Cup, into a successful Canadian television property. I continue to write the successful Hockey Superstars annual, which has become a Canadian school book club tradition, selling a couple of million copies over the last 30+ years.
I’m semi-retired now and enjoy working on select projects as well as doing some teaching.
“Paul Romanuk is one of the best and most reliable people and professionals that I have had the honor to be associated with.”
“Paul and I have been colleagues for nearly thirty years - so I can confidently say that he is one of the most professional, highly motivated and extremely prepared commentators in sports broadcasting.”
“….a perfect pre season primer for young people […] It’s easy to imagine author Romanuk as a super-fan eager to pass on his interest in the game to younger versions of himself with this series, and he’s certainly done a fine job at that task.”
